AEO Readiness Assessment

Find out whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find you, understand you and cite you

Assess Your AEO Readiness

Ten questions on the things that decide whether an answer engine names you:

  • Whether your business resolves to one clear entity, not several
  • Whether your answers exist as text an assistant can quote
  • Whether anything outside your own site backs up your claims
  • Whether AI crawlers are allowed in, by decision rather than by accident
  • Whether you actually know what the assistants say about you today

Time required: 3-5 minutes | Questions: 10

What this tool does

AEO is answer engine optimisation: being named in the answer an AI assistant gives, rather than ranking on a page of links. This assessment scores the four things that decide it — whether your business resolves to one unambiguous entity, whether your expertise exists as text an assistant can quote, whether anything outside your own site corroborates it, and whether AI crawlers are allowed in. You get a score out of 30 and the specific gap to close first.

What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?

SEO gets a page ranked in a list of links. AEO gets your business named inside the answer an assistant writes, where there is no list. Ranking rewards relevance and authority; being cited rewards being unambiguous, quotable and corroborated.

Why does ChatGPT not mention my business?

Usually one of three reasons: it cannot tell which company you are because your identity is inconsistent across the web, there is no self-contained sentence on your site worth quoting, or nothing outside your own site backs up what you claim.

How do I make my website easier for AI assistants to quote?

Write the question as a heading exactly as a customer would ask it, then answer it completely in the first paragraph beneath, in plain HTML text. Assistants quote self-contained sentences, not sales copy and not text drawn by JavaScript.
